"I'm very proud of that record, no doubt about it," Federer told the ATP World Tour.
He has held the No. 1 ranking 14 weeks longer than Pete Sampras, who is No. 2 on the No. 1 list.
"It's an incredible achievement and accomplishment to be ranked No. 1 in the world for 300 weeks," Sampras told the ATP. "It is a testament to his consistency at the top of the game for so many years."
Rafael Nadal, who has been out since Wimbledon because of a patella tendon injury, chimed in with a tweet: "Congrats to Roger for his 300 weeks at first position!"
I hope he can play the tennis all the time. If one day he retired, maybe I will not watch the tennis game again.
